TMJ
TMJ, also known as Temporomandiblular Joint Dysfunction, can manifest itself in a number of ways. Common symptoms include: headache, sore jaw, facial pain, earache, loose teeth, frequent toothaches, worn or fractured teeth, and neck and shoulder pain.
Research has shown there is usually more than one factor responsible for TMJ disorders. Jaw clenching, tooth grinding, improper bite, arthritis, stress, and trauma are often related to this problem. Treatments vary and are usually tailored for each individual. These may include suggested behavioral changes, physical therapy, custom made appliances to relieve pressure from grinding and clinching, and mild medications.
